Thanksgiving...

So this past week was Thanksgiving. As I am currently living in Europe, the Thanksgiving day/meal is not common unless you are living among Americans. It is even hard to find a Turkey!

Even though Thanksgiving is not celebrated in the Czech Republic, our school takes the Thursday and Friday off of school because we are an American school. In our classroom we made pictures dictionaries for the word Thanksgiving. Each student was asked to write something they were thankful for that started with each letter of the word Thanksgiving. After hearing their responses I wanted to share some of them with you.

Are you ready for them? Well here goes…

T: toys, tulips, teachers

H: hugs, house, happiness, home, hand

A: ants, apples

N: nut, Nikes, nuns

K: kindness, kites

S: sushi, sister, sun, songs

G: God, giving, grace of God

I: India, ice cream, iguana

V: voice, vans, vowels, valentines

I: ice, Israel, Indians, insects

N: ninja’s November, nose, night

G: goodness, girl, God’s son

Don’t you love how simple children’s lives seem to be? I am thankful for each of these students and the time they spend at CISP.

Since I required my students to write what they were thankful for, I thought I should write what I was thankful for as well….

I am thankful for Time spent in the Czech Republic and time spent at Home. I am thankful for Animals that I can call my own and Nights spent in a warm bed. I am thankful for Kids that I get to work with and my Sister Kristen. I am thankful for God and his saving power and for the Internet, which lets me talk to my family. I am thankful for small Victories in the classroom and the beautiful gift of Itunes. I am thankful for Naps in the afternoon and the Grace of God present in my life.

I have much to be thankful for…how about you? What are you thankful for?

Until next time…
